Within the Students' Association the day to day management is the
responsibility of the Board of Trustees, an elected body of ordinary students,
just like you!
Membership of the Board of Trustees is made up as follows
- President (Sabbatical)
- Vice President Sports and Societies (Sabbatical)
- Honorary Treasurer
- Vice President Commercial Services (Sabbatical)
- Social Secretary Paisley
- Welfare and Representation Convener
- Vice President Publications
- Depute President Ayr (Sabbatical)
- Social Secretary Ayr
- Welfare and Representation Convener
- Campus Liaison Secretary
The first three are Campus wide positions, meaning their remit takes in all
campuses of the University. The next four cover the Paisley Campus and the last
three cover the Ayr Campus.
As you can see there is a trustee for everything! More info about these years'
trustees as well as some awful pictures of them can be found by
clicking here.
The positions with the word "Sabbatical" after them are the full time positions
on the Board of Trustees. These lucky people are the ones that get paid to take
care of your every need within UPSA.
If you like working long hard hours for little or no thanks, huge responsibility
with a small wage packet and generally don't think you need your sanity or self
respect very much anymore then becoming a Sabbatical Trustee is the job for you!
- Only joking, it really is a fabulous way to spend a year - either between
years at University or after you have finished. In addition you gain a lot of
important transferable skills which are seen as very desirable by graduate
employers.
The other positions within the Board of Trustees are part time positions. These
are filled by students still studying who have the time, energy and commitment
to attend fortnightly meetings. Even though you are not full time and unpaid
positions, you would have the warm glow of knowing you are making a difference
and, of course, the experience looks great on your C.V.
